ARTIST - Bio, statement, rambles
Welcome to the website of Lydia Burris, otherwise known as Zyphryus on various online circles.

The artist statement is always changing, there are always new and different things to say about me and my work on a daily basis, but here are the basics. I work with paints, drawing materials, plaster, 3D scraps and pieces and bits. I splatter and scrape at my work. I experiment with colors and textures, adding layer upon layer upon layer. I combine abstraction with illusion, beauty with grotesque, and control with chaos. I play with my work, I speak to it, I ignore it and I cherish it. My art derives from my wide interests, and is inspired by dreams, stories and combinations of concepts. My work spans from dark to light - jumping concepts, and switching trains of thought. I use both traditional and new media, utilizing what digital tools I can to find new pathways for the art. |
